In some generator sets, it is necessary to operate continuously for a certain period of time or often for a long time as the common power supply of power load. This kind of generator set is called common generator set. Common generator set can be used as common set and standby set. For towns, islands, forest farms, mines, oil fields and other areas or industrial and mining enterprises far away from the large power grid, generators need to be installed in order to supply power for local residents’ production and living. Such generator sets should be installed continuously at ordinary times.
Important facilities such as national defense projects, communication hubs, radio stations and microwave relay stations shall be equipped with standby generator sets. The electricity for such facilities can be supplied by the municipal power grid at ordinary times. However, after the power failure due to the destruction of the municipal power grid due to earthquake, typhoon, war and other natural disasters or human factors, the set standby generator set shall be started quickly and carried out continuously for a long time, so as to ensure the continuous power supply to the power loads of these important projects. This standby generator set also belongs to the type of common generator set. The continuous working time of common generator sets is long, and the load curve changes greatly. The selection of set capacity, number and type and the control mode of sets are different from those of emergency sets.
When the engine of the generator set fails to start, the steps to judge the failure are basically the same as those of the gasoline engine. The difference is that the generator set has a preheating system to work during the cold start. Therefore, there are many reasons for the difficulty or non start of the generator set. The common ones are as follows.
1. When the set is not preheated enough, the exhaust pipe will be on fire, which will cause white smoke when the set is not preheated enough
2. There is too much accumulation in the combustion chamber. Due to the lack of preparation before startup, it can not be started for many times, resulting in too much accumulation into the combustion chamber, which makes it difficult to start
3. The fuel injector does not inject fuel or the atomization quality of fuel injection is too poor. When cranking the crankshaft, the fuel injection sound of the fuel injector can not be heard, or when starting the generator set with the starter, the gray smoke can not be seen in the exhaust pipe
4. The oil circuit from the fuel tank to the fuel injector enters the air
5. The oil supply advance angle is too large or too small, and the time controller is faulty
